I am amazed at their hearing but even more so at their attention to patterns. My Rosie always seems to know when its time for dessert or when its time for a walk. Just to mentio a couple of things. Rosie is a Healer/Lab mix who always seems to know not only whats happening but knows to what's going happening next.

My wife and kids tell me that they know when I’m coming home from the way our lab acts. Usually he goes with me wherever I go but when he has to stay home he kinda lays in the front yard pouting. The family says he will get up wagging his tail and start trotting towards the mailbox several minutes before I get home even if I’m coming from the south and there’s a stout north wind. Back when the earthquakes where happening he would sit up and start tilting his head both ways a few minutes before the shaking started. They definitely have an extraordinary set of senses.

Sitting here on the couch in the living room, dog is back in the bed room asleep with mom. I open a twinky rapper and here she comes. I can barely hear the crackle of the wrapper in my hand but she can hear it 60 foot away in her sleep. Amazing...

Be careful what you wish for........ I'm the exact opposite on hearing. I can hear an ant fart from across the room. You learn to 'tune out' many things or you'd go crazy trying to process it all. There's many things you hear that you have to pretend that you didn't.....

Not only do dogs have good hearing.........they have good sniffers too. My gal Sadie was asleep under the table on our deck in New Mexico a couple weeks ago and all of a sudden she jumps up and runs over to the pickup and starts barking like crazy and running around the truck. She could not see the truck from where she was laying. I thought what the heck is she barking at? Happened to be a bull snake under the pickup. I finally had to catch the darn thing with my snake catcher and toss it down the hill to calm her down. The only way she could have known there was a snake under the pickup was to have smelled the darn thing! Dogs are quite amazing!

I’m glad my hearing isn’t as good as a dogs.
If it were I might actually hear and understand what the wife is saying about me?
It's amazing how you can tell them something loud and clear while looking straight at them and the say "what" and 5 minutes and one smartass comment later and you turn, walk off and mumble under your breath "geemani Christmas, use your damn head for once" and somehow they suddenly have built in miracle ears and hear every word.
