I feel for you Rick! Sounds kinda' like mine this year. For some reason, I've started having belt trouble. I'm thinking it must be stretched. I have replaced it once but, all of a sudden, it started getting pinched between a pulley and a bracket. I cleared that and re-adjusted everything. A few minutes later (literally), it started squealing and this time, the belt had come off the pulley! Took it apart and got the belt back on, adjusted everything again, and fired it back up. You guessed it, minutes later it started squealing again. This time, I didn't use the self propel, just pushed it manually. I finished the mowing and put it away. I'll mess with it again before I mow next time. The wife is trying to get me to go to a rider, but that's not really feasible with our yard. I'll put a new belt on it one day this week and se what happens. Good luck, Rick!

Did it shut off like you turned the ignition off or did it sputter out? If I quit suddenly, it’s probably a safety switch. Either seat or PTO switch. The seat is easy to bypass with a jumper wire

This was my thought as well. Many a rider out there with that seat switch disabled!

Sputtered but I think I got it. Plus the battery was down so I have it on the charger now.

My lawn guys had some issues and it had been 2 1/2 weeks since they were here. So, got some fuel for the mower and weedwhacker. These things had not been started in over 2 years.

Honda SP mower started on the 2nd pull. It is 16 years old and mowed other's lawns for a couple of years.

Echo weedwhacker started on the 3rd pull. Also 16 years old and same as above

Both still had the old fuel in 'em and carbs weren't drained. Glad I use StaBil! Also glad that I buy the right quality of equipment.
