Will Rogers World Airport carry

I did a search and never really found a definitive answer as to whether you can carry concealed in the terminal area at WRWA. Obviously not past the security area. I was there yesterday and made it a point to look for "no concealed weapons" signs and didn't see any.

One thing I think I have determined is that WRWA APPEARS to be owned by The City of Oklahoma City and managed by The City of Oklahoma City Airport Trust.

I specifically remember our class instructor telling us that concealed carry at will rogers was perfectly legal. Anywhere that doesn't require you to go through security that is...

I wonder if he was right? I have heard some stuff from SDA instructors in the past that I doubted.

PLUS, if you get arrested and tell the officer "my SDA instructor said it was OK" that won't help you much.......

Ha. That is true. My instructor was Mark Cheneweth (sorry, I'm sure I spelled it wrong). He is a member on this board (ex-sniper). Maybe he can shed some light.

I flew non-rev last week, and I'm pretty sure I saw a sign on the upper level, west-most door that was the legendary no-gun circle. (I was in a hurry and wasn't really lookin', but I remember it being there when I was working back in 2007.)

I just took the class in tulsa, and acording to where it says we are allowed or not allowed, you should be clear. The no weapons signs are not a legal barrier for those who have a permit. But, behind the metal detectors would be off limits, because showing your gun to pass through the detectors would show your gun, which breaks the number one rule of carry, you weapon must be concealed.

OK, HERE IS THE DEFINITIVE ANSWER ON CARRYING IN THE WILL ROGERS WORLD AIRPORT TERMINAL:

I sent the following e-mail to the The Oklahoma City Department of Airports.

"I would like to inquire as to your policy regarding legal (permitted) carry of a concealed weapon in areas of the terminal before the security check points.

He replied with the following:

Title 21 Section 1277 of the Oklahoma Statutes provides that it in unlawful for any person in possession of a valid concealed handgun license issued pursuant to Oklahoma's Self-Defense Act to carry a concealed handgun into any structure, building or office space which is owned or leased by a city for the purpose of conducting business with the public. The Terminal Building is a City building.

So there doesn't need to be a "no weapons" sign posted because it is statutory. You don't want to get caught carrying in the airport terminal!

I think you could get an opnion, but I imagine that law has been tested before, thus what good is the ag, saying its the law gonna get you, there are places where you are banned from carrying, this isnt a private property issue, where stores ban you. Sounds like there is a law on the books.
