Also, you could buy MAC's cheap even into the early 90's. I paid $350 for my M11/9 in 1992. Interestingly, I have had my M11/9 converted to use the 36rd Suomi mags.
My father has said the same thing he had a FA colt M-16 and HK mp-5 and sold them when Clinton was taking office I think he said he got 3500 out of the mp-5 and 4k for the colt
