Oh yeah, it was not me but I drive an extended cab toyo and have a girlfriend who drives while I poach. She also does not care and is happy to see me illegally take game, it took me a while to find a chick like that.

WOW, not really, but seriously who talks their wife/girlfriend into poaching? What a deranged road they are headed down, and they deserved to be caught.

If you do catch them I suggest the "remove the valve stems" method. It is so funny to watch them try to pump their tires to no avail. This is funny b/c they usually do not notice that you pulled the valve stems.

Terrible stories here. Can't imagine that people would trespass private land and be such jerks. Love the shot of the neighbor stealing feed. Dadgum!!

What is it about this that makes people think it's ok to do? Is the punishment not severe enough? Or, are their chances of being caught low? What gives?

I want to get a bit of land out somewhere for hunting and these stories make it seem like such a PITA.

Possession of a spotlight can be cause for a ticket for "harassing wildlife."
Its kind of a broad rule than can be applied wherever its wanted, as was explained to me by a GW

I can confirm this. A few years back, one of my friend's brothers and his friend were out at their lease after dark and wanted to look in their fileds and see if they could get a head count. They did NOT have any guns with them, just a few ice cold beers! I guess the game warden was notified by a helicopter or plane. When the GW showed up he wrote them both a ticket for disturbing the wildlife and the tickets were not little. They gladly accepted their tickets because they didn't need any trouble with their open beers in the car.

How do you know that they were poaching? Looks like a couple of people out for a little lovers lane action, till you fenced off the road.

I'm not doubting that you have a poaching problem but I've had a d!ckhead farmer flag me down in the middle of the night, while I was out backroadin with my girlfriend, and want to know what I was doin on HIS road. My question to him is what was HE doin out at 1 AM shinin his spotlight all around the countryside. Lucky I didn't kick his a$$.

What others have said about oil field workers is true, they have done more damage than any poacher ever has, and they kill more game than poachers. We let the oil field worker that checks the pumps hunt our land under the promise he will report poachers and only take one buck, and he has "caught" more poachers last season than all of the hunters combined in our county.

Give them a sense of ownership and they will protect your property when you are away.

+1 If you have to put up with them working at all hours of the night and making so much stinking noise, it is good to not worry about poachers. I just hope my well water doesn't catch on fire when a open flame hits it. LOL.

I sure hope the duo in your picture were not poaching. Maybe they were just country cruising. Or maybe they left "something" else out there and were coming to get it. I watch more for that, where I'm at, as there are supposedly a bunch of meth labs out here. Either way, they shouldn't be out there.

As a former roughneck, I can say that none of the men I worked with ever poached any animals. Many were hog hunters and trappers, but thats about all I ever saw, and they did it on their own leased or owned land. Oilfield workers may be bad at following the rules, but when you work your ass off for 12 hours a day in all imagineable weather there is, killing something sure feels good.

We setup a game camera on an empty lot on I35. Had people dumping debris there. We spent about 30 minutes concealing the camera. Needless to say our efforts worked. several trucks with clear pictures of tags, one OSCO Deputy and one OCPD officer taking a bathroom break. Somehow those pictures got out and I got an a&& chewing. We still laugh about it.

We spent a considerable amount of time aiming the camera. We did about a dozen passes with a truck at various speeds. Switched between still shot and video. Finally got it right and nailed the bastards that were dumping. Rose Bud Landscape didn't like the call from our owner requesting them to go clean up the lot.

The road hunters in our area are well known and have been caught spotlighting, and also with 9 does in their possession after season. Daddy own a drilling company, and just pays the fines for the boys and life just goes on.....
