So it 0439 and I can't sleep. Went to my "dunegeon" and realized I'm out of indoor appropriate projects so... Think I might try my hand at building an AR I like the carbine I have a lot and some of the long distance ars I've seen llo kinda neat...plus it's a project and something I can do a little at a time. I know there's a ton of info on the net and I did a little looking but I figured checking in here wouldn't hurt.

So anyone have an reccomendations? Things to do or not do that an amature might miss? Also any particular brands to look for or run away from?

Thanks for help I know I'll need it :)

.45Fats, asking for recommendations on an AR will get you 1000 different answers. Whenever you do decide what you want to do let me know and I can help you put it together. I have all of the tools/fixtures and have done quite a few over the years.

Thanks for the feed back! I think I'm going to do something entirely pointless and build an ar with a light trigger 24 inch bull barrel swivel bipod an some good mod range optics so I can do some mid long range shooting. Basically I've read a ton about how accurate an ar can be so I'm going to try to build one up... Like I said a project spread out over a couple months get me through the cold weather and break it out for the spring.

While I had my concerns about oping any link labeled 24 incher. That does look pretty close to what I ultimately have in mind...

Now for a tacti-fool question please try to hold in your laughter or at least keep it down to a dull roar. I've read on the eve. Truthful internets that a barrel threaded and fitted with a sound supressor or flash supressor or barrel extenders will be more accurate than a barrel of the same length left clean. Is this true or mall ninja hype? I mean the web nver lies right?

LOL yeah I didn't think about that. I tried to just postthe pic but my iPhone would only let me link it.

I think you could argue a silencer could increase accuracy but other than that it shouldn't really matter if you have a bare muzzle or some type of device. I also don't see a need for anything longer than an 18 or 20 barrel but some people like them long.
