I was in your shoes at beginning of the season. i went with the breathables that have the zip out liner. Mine are the Frog Togg brand but are just like the Rogers brand (not sure who actually makes them). I have been extremely pleased so far. By far the most comfortable pair of waders i have...
Congrats to her and you for getting her in the woods.
I am like you and pretty much focus all my time getting the kids out in the woods. So far this year all of my boys have taken a deer. My older too are still after it trying to get a buck, but our freezer is full.
Boys scouted quite a few ponds (SW OK) Sunday afternoon, only found a few with birds they could get access to. Settled on one with just a few birds but made a plan to hunt it Monday morning. I told them good luck i wasnt going out in that weather...
Well at 7:15 my oldest called and said they...
Took my boys on their first snagging trip.
We took the boat with us to Table Rock lake on spring break to do some fishing but we just couldnt figure out how to fish for the cooler/deeper bass so we changed things up.
Found out where you can snag on the lake and headed that way.
Had plans to...
He was using his new Savage Axis .243, we bought it on Wednesday and got it sighted in Friday and then hunted with it the weekend. He really was pumped about getting his own rifle, we had planned on using one of his older brothers but we were able to do some swapping around and get the funds for...
We had a supper successful youth draw hunt at the Arbuckle Springs WMA south of Ada. It is a new WMA and hasn't been improved much since they acquired the land last summer, but it is a great area.
It was a 2 deer draw (1st antlerless, 2nd either). I was told that it really was a set up as a doe...

Hunted it 11/2-11/4 with my sons on the youth hunt.
We hunted area F, just south of the headquarters. The whole area is wet, but not flooded anymore. Area F was plenty dry to get everywhere you wanted to go. I know the areas north of Hwy 11 are a little more wet but there are plenty areas to...
Took my two oldest boys to Salt Plains this weekend as well. We were in Cabin 6.
My 12 yr old had his doe down at 1:30 on Friday so hopes were really high. He didn't run into a buck the rest of the trip. My 14 yr old had a couple issues, 1st doe gun misfired (think the bolt wasn't all the way...
I received the email as well, and voted the same, kill the split and move the opener back. I also put in my comments that by doing this would also allow them to move the youth days back giving the youth a better chance at actually seeing some birds.
some of the i hunt are right on the border of...

Question about the Salt Plains youth hunt. It is 2 deer with first being antlerless. Do you all know if the antlerless deer has to be physically checked in or is it something we can shoot the doe and let it lay (weather permitting obviously) for a bit if we see other deer near by??
All 3 of my sons were drawn this year for youth hunts
2 oldest Salt Plains 11/2-4
Youngest Arbuckle Springs 11/17
Have not hunted either place, any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated

My two oldest boys have each done something I have never done. Oldest shot two pigs just a couple min apart with his bow and my middle son (11) killed a buck on opening day with his crossbow. The buck is one they call Special Ed he had an injury last year and had a big limp with a really messed...
Great job Coach 1
I was there yesterday and it was great to see how excited your kids were.
We had the same experience last year with our two teams first year to shoot and both teams won 1st it was great to see the kids go from not knowing what a bow was to learning how to shoot it well.

you just have to prove residency to get the lifetime, it will have an "apprentice" designation on it until they pass the HSC. I bought all three of mine their lifetimes at age 6, for them the proof was a report card from school, for younger I believe a birth cert will work.
