An open ended (exposing any length near the muzzle) holster is a major safety compromise. Upward pressure against the muzzle can cause the gun to come out. Some holster makers refuse to make them.
OP said "worst case scenario." That reminds me of Greg Ellifritz' musing on the Nairobi Mall attack. http://www.activeresponsetraining.net/brainstorming-response-options-in-the-nairobi-mall-incident
Too many variables to completely rule out any realistic option. How to prepare depends what...
Nice! I've never caught one of these, but my dad snagged one by accident while we were catfishing on Gibson, and it was a hell of a fight. I never knew they tasted good until recently. I want to try this now.
Sam's Club in Tulsa has Muck Arctic Pro's (the Mossy Oak Break-Up ones) for $130.
ETA: they had a lot last night at the Sheridan store, but I understand they have them at 71st & Mingo too.
Maybe you could use something like this to get the scope over in the neighborhood of your left eye:

Thanks for the advice, Dennis. A few spots come to mind that I can try next weekend. Glad you posted your haul--now I'm charged up to get back on the water!
Dang nice catch! My dad and I fished Ft Gibson lake last Sunday and got nary a bite. I've been looking for them back in coves and near shallower structure, though. Is that wrong? What sort of structure are they looking for if they're down deeper like that?
I've participated in a drill that looks similar to this (not with TDSA), and I can identify absolutely nothing of value in it. If someone knows the full context of this drill, I'd sure be curious to hear it. Particularly what end this drill accomplishes that can't be better accomplished in...
I have always enjoyed my outdoor hobbies a little more in incliment weather. Not sure why. Adds to the adventure a little maybe? Range time is no exception, if they'll let you out. USSA usually won't :(
I currently only have the gear for hunting rifle season (we'll do youth weekend, regular gun season, and antlerless gun season), and we'll be hunting public lands. So is there a way to properly scout without disrupting the bow hunters?
I'm mainly targeting remote corners of public lands and...
Thanks for everyone's replies.
I also spent some time reading about how to use an Apple device as a GPS (satellite, not ground-based). It seems it's actually pretty capable, provided you get an app that allows downloaded maps. I found this article:

It's worthwhile to spend some time getting to know the USGS website. You can download most everything you'd want for free on there, including topo or aerial. You can order paper maps somewhere on there too.

Roger that. I wear a Timex compass watch and keep a Suunto A10 in my man-purse daily (including days in the field). Personally, I consider navigating from the maps a big part of the fun. I'll use the GPS to keep me from erring too badly, especially near private land boundaries, etc.
Do y'all use GPS devices in the field? I think I would mainly use one to locate the boundaries and some remote/oddball corners on public hunting lands. What sort of features do you feel are critical? Favorite brands? Favorite maps? Other advice?
Thanks,
Sam
I'm not making a distinction between gun-grabs related to OC vs CC, or between a gun-grab and a gun fully lost to an attacker. I'm simply addressing the implication that, since one is personally aware of only a few gun-grabs in recent years, the probability of the OP encountering one is zero...
I can easily hold my tongue on the issue of open carry, but not on the abuse of probability.
The probability of a typical individual in a reasonably low-crime area being attacked at all is quite low--presumably even lower for those with a mindset to avoid being targeted. The probability of a...
Well, the awesome on this thread got turned up to 11!! Thanks to all for the responses.
@meatGrinder, awesome input. Thanks man. Duck fat fries are now a must for me.
