I watched the show "Hogs Gone Wild" tonight for the first time. The way they do it, the hogs will populate faster than they can catch them. Looked very inefficient and labor intensive to me.
My Dad both fished and hunted, but had about quit hunting by the time I was old enough to. We fished a lot, I mean a lot. When I got old enough he taught me how to shoot and handle a gun. Then I went hunting with my brother and cousins and gradually started going by myself for small game...
Cut the skin crossway across the middle of the back. Pull the skin away from the body and get a finger of both hands under the skin and pull both ways. Or you can do it with two people. Cut the legs and head off as you get the skin down over them. Then gut.
Almost any dog is a potential squirrel dog. When I was young, I complained to my Dad that when I hunted squirrels, they would keep running through the trees until they found a hollow tree to get in. He told me to take the family dog which I always made stay behind. The next time I went, that...
That is a really pretty fox. I had lived here all my life and never seen a fox in the wild. Only in towns at night had I seen foxes and they were crossing the street. A couple of years ago I was checking a well and there was a red fox hunting around the oil tanks. He ran a ways and stopped...
When animal or plants bred for agriculture are allowed to cross breed over several generations, they begin to gradually revert back to their original ancestors. That's probably what is going on with the hogs. They can have three litters per year so they can go through several generations in a...
Not much good I can say about an armadillo. I see them all the time when I am deer hunting, but they get a pass because I'm trying to not cause a commotion. They play hell with the yard. If you get one in the yard, about the only way to get him is to get up at night every 30 minutes or so and...
I feel like an idiot. I thought it was doe only from the 1st to the 15th. When did they change that? Actually I haven't hunted late season for a few years.
I was trying to clean the coons out of an area where I had a corn feeder for the deer once and caught the neighbor's dog, I don't know now he got his whole body in there, but he took up every square inch of the trap. He was sure glad to get out.
I never caught him again either.
I'd say it was an average season. One buck and five does. The buck was a 120'' ten point that I shot during muzzleloading season. Probably the most perfect rack on any deer I have shot, just not as big. Saw quite a few other bucks in the same range, but was holding out for something bigger...
I think you would only have a problem if other foods weren't available. Deer are browsers. They feed or nibble on one type of food for a while and move to something else. Twigs, leaves, green grass, bark, acorns, etc.
I don't think if you are owner of the property you have to reside on it. I think by resident they mean resident of the state.
I'm wondering if a wife would be exempt whether their name were on the deed for the land or not. I'll have to ask my game warden friend next time I see him.
I too, thought the archery tag extended into January, at least for does, but apparently it doesn't.
The weird thing is that the bag limit does go into the next year.
