Revolving magazine tubes, three tubes, six rounds of 2 3/4” each? Close quarters fire superiority. Just need some hard cover for the reload process, I guess. Could imagine the opponent down range counting shots,”that’s it! He fired his six, rush him!”
Update on my Ruger American bolt action rifle. Looks like mounting the cantilever Warne base backwards on the pic rail, locates the hex nuts to the right, extruding outward over the ejection cut out, in the receiver. Snap cap dummy round ejects quite normally with base removed. I will turn the...
Thanks Rez, the “smith” I went to has disassembled the bolt, check the springs, ejector and extractor and determined all looked ok. Damned if I know, by looking. I thought the bolt face looked rough, too. ? Is this just a base model rifle that doesn’t get a polished, smooth bolt face? Maybe the...
I will look at that. Thanks. Christ almighty, that forward hex bolt head in my Warne scope mount IS in a suspicious position over the ejection port, now that I look at the pic I posted. I’ll ask the gunsmith about that, if I can contact him before he ships it back to Ruger. Did I outsmart myself...
Got an update from the local gunsmith about my Ruger American bolt action rifle. He noted the ejector “clock” position in the face of the bolt, when contacting the case at the rear of the cycle, caused the case to flip up into the top of the receiver.? Shouldn’t the ejector be more in the...
That reminded me of a night stroll thru a buddy’s’ pastures and woods. Trying to just use our flashlights when necessary, moon light was spotty, on the way back to his ranch house he shined his light into the crotch of a tree, drew, leveled his Dan Wesson .357 mag, triggered a thunderously loud...
Windham bought Bushmaster 10-15 years ago? I owned a HB 20” barrel DCM Bushmaster that I fired monthly in Highpower Rifle matches. It performed well for me. Only failures ever experienced, (very few), I blamed my reloads or old surplus GI twenty round mags I bought cheap. Wondered how the...
That sort of idea occurred to me, too. I imagined a refined version of the Kalashnikov. An American built model that would accept most all the foreign made magazines/ammo, (for scavenged battlefield resupply). An updated gas regulator, (two position?) The number one gas setting a bit more narrow...
Thanks guys, I checked it in at the 2A Shooting Center, for the gunsmith to troubleshoot. I’ll update what is what soon. Kind of disappointed with Ruger about the failure and lack of response to my e-mails to customer service. Don’t want to ship a 20” barrel rifle anywhere, if I can avoid it...
I swabbed the bolt face, ejector and extractor. The bolt face looks kind of textured, mill marked, in the white. The spring loaded parts appear blued/black to me. Thanks for the response, guys. Might try having a local gunsmith look at it. Just tried cycling the bolt with a .308 snap cap dummy...
Anybody experience weak, sluggish ejection out of one of these bolt actions? I tried cycling the turn bolt slow, middling speed and fast and hard, pulling the bolt sharply back to the end of its’ rearward travel,,, no difference, case is just laying on top of the receiver.? I have to twist/roll...
I owned a Socom 16 about twenty years ago. Reminded me of a short M-1A. 7.62 X 51 MM. Think it came with a five round mag. Bought a couple of twenty rounders. All the mags and the carbine functioned flawlessly. Fun to shoot. If I’m remembering right, mine had a 16” barrel.
