I know this is a pretty strange question, but is there a mil-spec or mil-std for the M16? I know there’s the MIL-STD-1913 for the accessory mounting rail, but does anything like that exist for the rifle itself? Or maybe one for the M203 Masterkey :)? I’m browsing a spec site and just curious.

Got that thing off and replaced the plate tonight, finally. I un-did the staking in the original plate but there was still some edge/lip at one of the channels so I ended up just over-powering it and moving it past; see also: rubber mallet and ar15 tool. Now it's time to re-stake it. What size...
