Had this one few years back. I would have shot it if he walked by the stand. Only year I know of him showing up on the property. I did shot my first spike this year in Arkansas. I thought it was doe at 120 yards. Hunting was tuff and the freezer empty, so I was happy to have him. Normally...
A guy at church caught 13 at the Shawnee Lake dock, not sure which one. They where smaller, but big enough to clean. Said they are coming up. I went last weekend to Thunderbird and action was slow. Caught a few off of the bottom. Cleaned enough for one meal.
- 308 rifle/scope & proper cartridges (sighted in @ 100yrds or what?) - 2" high at 100 yards is what I do, good for dead on at 200 yards.
- sidearm? (in case need to put injured deer down. If so, is .22 legal JUST for putting down?) -
From the regulations, but another shot from your rifle...
On the fishing front, Thunderbird any day of the week. Wes Watkins charges three dollars a day to fish and haven't had the much good fishing on the lake. For the beach and swimming, both are really good. We usually end at Wes Watkins because we bring the kayaks and its easier for the kids to...
I have seen a few caught. The few keepers have come off of swimming jigs off of the bottom. The most kept was 4. The minnows I bought caught several non keeper white bass. I would have been better off just fishing the jigs so far.
Both my dad and I have them in 308 without sights. Awesome shooters. I also have a 270 and 25-06 version. They are my go to hunting rifles. I put the 2 lb rifle basix trigger sear in all of mine. This is great upgrade to the trigger.
The biggest thing that helped me was to adjust the brake so with my rod at 45 degree angle, hit the release button and when the bait hit the ground the line stopped coming off of the reel.
When I first started bass fishing with bait casters, I would use 14 to 17 pound line. I now mainly use 12 pound test line. I mainly fish open water with little brush or timber. If I was back fishing heavy timber water, I would probably go back up in the weight.
It took me 2 to 3 years to get use to them. I use them mainly for bass fishing. The last one I bought was probably five years ago. Some are ten years old I am still using. I have no clue on the current models of what is good or bad. I use my spinning reels for crappie, perch and trout fishing.
I bought a used one that my Father-in-law now owns. It would throw sabots sideways with pellet form of powder. With the lose powder, all 3 shots would touch at 100 yards.
