I wasn't really paying a lot of attention to that. I know of at least four (because they were near me). Most guys were running their duty guns, or guns they were T&E'ing for their departments, which means the majority were not comped.
This course is actually focused on getting LE agencies...

Pretty much 100% agree on this. One caveat - some folks are seeing failures in their Type 2's as well - however, at a lower rate than reported on Type 1's. I have never experienced a failure of my Type 1, in right around 25k rounds, but I did both of the "fixes" MP mentioned on Day One.

On a side note, I dig the way CLEET has your Firearms Instructor program setup. It looks like a pain to finish, but seems like one of the more complete state-level programs out there. The State of Indiana has fairly low standards for recruit-level firearms training, but allows departments to put...
That's pretty standard across the country, sadly. Our recruits used to get a week of shotgun. Now, it's a follow-on school, if you want it. ILEA (our version of CLEET) dropped shotguns out of their Basic Class a long time ago, other than a familiarization course. The big push is shotguns as a...
I'll bet you the Kiesler guns are our old guns we traded in when we moved to the 17M. If so, we sold them to Kieslers with three mags each, and they got about 1700 of them. Funny thing is, they wanted 400, if we wanted to buy our old individually-issued gun.
ETA: apparently I don't read so gud...
Hope the little dude makes a full and speedy recovery. My oldest girl got RSV when she was 3, and had to spend a few days in the hospital. Definitely a struggle to have to watch and be able to do nothing.
I don't think anyone proposes that you sling up, if you are actively in a gunfight. For a bump in the night, "slinging up" is easily done as you take your first step. To each their own, but so far, the two arguments I have heard against slings aren't grounded in reality, in my experience.

I've never been a fan of Eotechs - I love the reticle, but have seen dozens go down in classes. The payout they were forced to make to .gov was the final nail in the coffin for me.
I have six T2's and one T1 on various rifles (with the T1 being on a shotgun), and have never had a problem with...
