My grandad swept floors at the Collin’s Radio facility in Cedar Rapids, IA. He farmed during the day and the janitor gig helped pay the bills. My mom’s brother was a technical writer for them in the 50’s.
I don’t have a dog in this fight, but this is how companies (and people) should handle their business. Find out there is a problem, own it, fix it, be up front about it and move on. We all make mistakes, it’s how we handle the aftermath that shows our character!

Mine arrived, just picked it up at SSP. Pretty decent shape, not pristine by any account but good value. I’m going to strip it and give it a good cleaning and lube. Should make a nice beater. Thanks to the OP for the heads up.

The problem with your solution, and I totally agree with the premise, is it only deters sane people. Mass murderers are either insane, or so desperate that the consequences are irrelevant. Most go into the situation wanting and/or fully expecting to die.
