I just called Rep. Duncan's office. The very pleasant lady who answered the phone said she hasn't heard anything yet, but she expected a press release soon. She knows there's a lot of interest in the bill, and so does Rep. Duncan. I suggest everybody call his office at (405) 557-7344 and ask...
You go through a Federal background check for any firearm bought through an FFL. There is no check of any kind for private transfers. Oklahoma doesn't do any special check on its own.
I'm with surjimmy: if anything goes wrong, and Porky decides to charge you, you'll want something that will anchor him. Nothing says "stop" quite like a big, fat .45-70. It'll have the power to break bones and smash joints that a .223 just won't. A 12-ga slug would also be effective, but will...
I love mine. The only thing I'd change about them is to swap in a square front sight post for the round that comes with it--the glare on the round post can be aggravating. This is also true of AR sights, though, and square posts are readily available.
I suspect that the reason more people don't ask is because the "no" is a foregone conclusion, and it would draw attention to themselves, making it more difficult to do this:
I suspect there are far more people in the second group than any of us realizes.
As for these:
Given the situations...
I put one together years ago. It's way too much fun.
In fact, I took it to my law school's annual pistol shoot. The rules were roughly "shoot what you brung." I put that Buckmark in the hands of people who had never held a firearm before, and they were scoring ten-of-ten consistently.
About...
Right now, I don't have the barrel (haven't bought one yet), so there are no sights on it. I'll probably buy a pre-threaded barrel. Cutting a dovetail behind the threads is one option, as is using a slip-on adapter if I can find one that doesn't cover the threads. Can you recommend either a...
I'm looking to build up a 10/22 with iron sights and a threaded barrel. All of the iron sight adapters I've seen appear to cover the muzzle, making the threads inaccessible.
Does anybody have any suggestions for a barrel or adapter that would work for this?
Because a lot of us have more time on our hands than money in the bank.
Hell, I work full-time, go to school four nights a week, have a kid and a house to mind, and still have more time than money.
It is not illegal for somebody under 21 to own, shoot, or purchase a handgun.
The way the FFL laws are written, it is illegal for an FFL to transfer a firearm to a person under 21, with the exception that he may transfer a long gun (defined as a shotgun or rifle) to somebody at least 18 years...
Christ, there's a lot of misinformation in here!
WRONG
You cannot carry on private property when the landowner (or his authorized agent) tells you "no guns on my property." Signs on the door are an effective means of notifying people that guns are prohibited, but they are not required--a...
And that is why I bought the .45-70: I don't need it for the easy shots, but I hunt alone from time to time, and it would be just my luck that the charge will come when there's nobody around to help me. I wanted something that would be a definitive bone-breaker.
