May have the oportuinity to hunt some black bear while Im up here in Washington. What load would you guys go with? While I would love to go out and buy a bigger gun, thats not really an option right now. Handloading is out of the question too, I live in the barracks and were not allowed to have ammunition in our rooms, so components is out of the question. But thats a sermon for another thread.

I would go with either the Federal Premium 165 gr Barnes TSX load or the Black Hills 168 gr Barnes T-TSX load. Either one of those should pack enough punch to get the job done so long as you do your part behind the rifle.

Black bears aren't that difficult to kill. Use whatever your gun likes to shoot. Anything above a 150 grain bullet will do the trick. A lot of bears are taken every year with a 130 - 150 grain slug from a .270.
