On 12/26/2011, we strapped a GoPro camera to a SPOT GPS unit to a weather balloon and launched it around 12:30 PM just east of Guthrie. About 4:30 PM, we noticed the GPS signals were stacked on top of each other, so we knew that it was either falling back down or already down on the ground. We recovered the camera about 7:40 PM NW of Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Was an awesome adventure.
These are just sneak peaks of the photos we captured. We're going to release better photos on a blog in the near future.
Oh and we killed the time between launch and landing by exterminating a giant pumpkin and dead Xbox360 with judicious use of 7.62x54r, .308, 5.56, and 12ga. Fun times...
