I load .223 [68 & 75s ] & .308 I have been using Varget but am thinking of changing to 8208
I would like to know if 8208 meters any better ?
AND If anyone has compared velocities between the two , which is higher ?
Yes I know how to Google just looking for conversation. Thanks

8208 is finer grained (shorter and thinner) - if you are using metal thrower it will be less likely to catch.
My FTR load is 43.0 8208 behind 168 SMK = 2720fps out of 24" 1:10 barrel.

P.S. I've tried Varget in many many guns - and while it works good - I haven't found a gun/load that it would work "the best".

There are several new speciality loads out for .223. Hornady is even selling one that is supposed to eliminate the copper fouling in the barrel. I've been a varget guy as well. Seems to work well for me, but I'm not against trying something new.

IMR 8208 XBR meters VERY well; significantly better than Varget.

I've never tried IMR 8208 XBR in a 308 but have in a 223. Unfortunately, in my 223 with the bullets I've tried, I got the best results with RL-15.

At some point I will try 8208 and see how it compares with Varget , good to know it meters better .

When I do try it I will post up results thanks to those shared their opinions
