folks,

Am thinking of getting one of the large capacity tripod barrell feeders but was wondering what others experience was in regards to squirrels and raccoons and nawing through the plastic barrels. I would be putting this in an area where they could jump from trees and get to the top of it......

Any bad experiences with rodents chewing these things up?

Heck yes they chew holes in em.

Especially if you accidentally let it run empty and the tree rats can't get their daily fix. They let me know they were not happy with the situation by turning one of mine into Swiss cheese. Took a lot of epoxy puddy and some paint to fix it back up.

If you get one,..DON'T let it run dry.!

WE have one in the barn that got chewed. Dad bought some steel barrel ones at an auction and haven't had a problem since.
