It's got a light rusting on it.

Should I remove the bluing before painting it?
Should I just clean it real well with steel wool and get after it?

It's just an old H&R single shot and not worthy of a large investment.

I know which direction I'm leaning to, just wanted to see what others opinion was.

I would also do a nice base coat of rustoleum primer too. It can't hurt it. I love camo painting. Wish I had the balls to do more on some of my ARs. Have only done a couple 22s and shotguns.

Before this gets out of hand I want to remind you guys this is a old H&R. A working gun. No a mantel piece for all to oouh and awe at.

But yea my plans were are still are to:

1. Steel wool to remove light rusting.
2. Clean well to remove oil and crud.
3. Primer with a rust prohibitive coat.
4. Pretty up with the world's finest camo job.
5. Use the heck out of it, hard to beat old guns for what they are.

I'll also be sanding down & refinishing the wooden stocks with same pattern. Probably top it off with a slip on recoil pad. :wink2:

Will try and post pics of the entire process for anyone who might be interested, although I can't think of any right now.....
