Yeah, there wasn't much detail on that part of the story. It was kind of a side note to the whole situation.
The man was a suspect in a murder case, and he admitted to prescription drug abuse.
The murder trial ended with a hung jury, and then he was charged with this federal crime, and got a year in prison for it.
It made it sound like there was a federal law against owning guns while abusing drugs that anyone could be charged with. ???

They would no doubt put a three strikes clause with apology's and treatment to relieve the strikes... 8/
