I just bought a house with an in-ground sprinkler system that apparently hasn't been used in quite some time. I went to start it up, but the PVB (Backflow preventer) is busted (the cap isn't even attached and the internals are just rattling around in there). I'm confident I can replace it myself, but I was curious what the rules/regulations on these sort of things are. Are inspections/permits involved? I'm in OKC by the way.

found a rebuild kit for $20 on amazon, charged and tested the system, and it works! Unfortunately, there's a small leak in the pvc/brass connection. If it's not one thing, it's another...
