White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest confirmed Monday that President Obama is "very interested" in the idea of raising taxes through unitlateral executive action.

"The president certainly has not indicated any reticence in using his executive authority to try and advance an agenda that benefits middle class Americans," Earnest said in response to a question about Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) calling on Obama to raise more than $100 billion in taxes through IRS executive action.

'k, can someone 'splain to me just who these "middle class Americans" who are getting helped by all these benefits? 'Coz so far all I see is higher taxes, higher prices, and a dollar that buys less every day.

Why go through the political hassles/battles that come with raising taxes when Washington can just print money? No one seems to care when they do that.

I'm not sure that raising taxes is within the constitutional scope of the presidential office.

That being said, the immigration edict is not constitutionally correct either, but its going to happen because this congress has no balls.

When obama and his minions tell you they're doing something for your good, it means they are doing exactly the opposite. Read Rules for Radicals. Understand that the current administration are full of people who worshipped Saul Alinsky like a god. Alinsky wrote about the destruction of the middle class. Everything this administration is doing is about the downfall of the middle class. It's PLANNED. People need to stop asking why this and why that. Read what they read growing up (like Rules) to see how they currently think. Socialism (or whatever ism the left uses) is a tool used by the elites to protect the wealth of the elites...in a way that has the masses begging for what's being done to them.

Not likely since all taxes must originate in the House but I guess they could try and say that it is somehow them attempting to enact current law. Big issue here is standing, anyone who pays taxes associated with the Executive order would have grounds to take the administration to court. That is the problem with the immigration EO, it is hard for people or the states to show how they are impacted by the order. This also shows how the bar for standing has been moved up so high it effectively cuts a leg out from underneath on the branches of government.

The use of the term "middle class" has long been a favorite propaganda tool of the left. They've been promising good things for that category of earners for decades and little has come of it that really benefited them.

What would benefit them is for politicians to cut the unnecessary regulations and allow more freedom for middle class people to move up. However, in Obama's terms of office, the labor participation rate has diminished, thus middle class people are actually subject to being sent into the lower class economic category.
