Sounds like this guy was a real threat. At least people can see the value in those checkpoints, now.
Those checkpoints are necessary, someone out there is guilty of something.
I know it, if we had more of them, we could stop more crimes, even before they're committed!

Yep. Play stupid games ... I don't agree with checkpoints ... think they are fishing expeditions and they need to be outlawed ... but pulling a gun on a cop is just ... well ... hmmmm ... you REALLY gotta wonder about the thought process ...
I don't like checkpoints either but this man's death was NOT caused by a checkpoint, it was caused by his own own foolish, dangerous actions.
If one wants to protest checkpoints there are ways to do so that do not involve running from the police and then stepping out of one's vehicle armed.

Government should be doing random rectal inspections because someone hid contraband up there once. Though it sounds like a chitty job!
