Ok, I settled on a load I want to try in my AR10. 150 gr Hornady FMJ and 40.5 gr of IMR 4895 to start. It fills the case all the way to the neck. I don't think the posted 46 gr max would even fit. Anyone running a similar load and what is your experience? Thanks

If it shoots ok, go with it. I've had compressed loads with full cases that had to be bounced on the bench to make the powder settle enough to get the max load into the case.

I think Franklin sells a funnel with a long neck on it. They say it allows the powder to align in the tube before dropping into the case for more capacity.

thats good to hear. what gun and how was the accuracy of that load?

IMR 4895 was the powder that the military loaded in National Match 308 ammo back when everyone shot M-14s and M-1As in NRA highpower competition (prior to 1995). My standard load for my M-1A was 40.5 grains of 4895 behind a 168 Sierra Matchking in a commercial case, 39.5 grains in military cases. The old saw goes "If your 308 won't shoot 40.5 grains of 4895 behind a 168 Sierra Matchking, then there is something wrong with the gun!"

I have shot some of the same loads in my AR-10 with good accuracy.

Palmetto state armory PA10 upper/lower ,16''1/10 fatboys barrel, magpul grip/moe stock , tasco 42mm reddot. I was dialing the tasco at 50yds off a bag on the money . I will need to dial in the buffer in time ,ie double feeds/fte . Psa PA10 stock buffer is only 4oz ,will need to move up to 5.4(h2) or 6.2 (h3) to get the timing right .
