Under the current administration, the NFA act will never go away. Afraid to think of what's going to happen when the next occupant moves in.

No doubt. I would be willing to bet a large hideaway pizza that if there is another 8 year democratic presidential run we will have one or more of the following:
National Gun Registry
Magazine Capacity Limits
Waiting Period
Private sales through FFL

None of which will have an impact on the "problem"

Actually, the "problem" they have in mind is attaining gun control. All the things you mentioned are just steps down that road. They will nickel and dime us until one day our descendants will wonder what a gun even is/was.
