So... I was out at Banner yesterday. Sighting in a new aimpoint red dot. The spotting scope I was trying to use, is a Simmons 20-60X60mm and at 100 yards couldn't really get a good focus on the target... What do I need to upgrade to that won't require a second mortgage?

Were you using all of the adjustments to focus? Don't know about that model, but a lot of spotting scopes have the standard focus, and some also use an ocular focus right at the eyepiece to adjust to your eyesight

Ive got a leupold gold rings that I bought for $700 on the used market that is really good. I'd say in the $5-800 range you can get some really nice great condition used spotting scopes.

And I'm talking scopes that you can look through all day out west.

I'd say $3-500 range there are some nice scopes if you're just using it to sight in rifles.
