I went Thursday the 8th of October 2015 and seen some cool stuff. Watched cool video in the nature center.. watched Monarch come in in the evening.
The place is flat but makes a nice day trip.

Good pics. Those early pictures almost looked as flat as the Panhandle. Even at 69-years-old, I've never been anywhere to watch their migration. I guess I need to pay more attention to the right seasons for migrating and try to be where they are.

Wife never seen the trees full of butterflies.
This was the best i could do for her.
I seen orange trees in 1979 in Moore Oklahoma behind KOMA way back in the field behind it.
Awesome sight.. Right place at the right time.

Those Monarch's are still coming in to Hackberry Flat and roosting in the trees overnight and seen them in the trees all day.. but not as many.
Still 100's of them in there if someone felt like making a trip I would bet you would enjoy seeing them in person.
My pictures kind of suck a little ,,I bet someone with photography skills could make some nice photo's.
I used an old Nikon D50 set on auto.

Hey, the Nikon D50 is just fine, and just for the record, most of the photos I take are almost all on "auto." I could certainly tell that the photos weren't taken with a cell phone, so that's a big improvement from what a lot of photos on the forums are. Not knowing what you are using for lenses nor how close you might need to get, a lot of times the lenses are more important for good pictures than what the camera body is.

Even a good prime 50mm with either f/1.4 or f/1.8 would make a lot of difference in lower light and also provide sharper images. If that ever interests you, check with Baker Photo there in Yukon. They get some pretty good lenses that are used. My youngest son has bought a couple from them.

We have been having thousands of them coming through the farm. Kind of surreal walking through the trees with them flittering about.

As a side note, the US Government allocated $248,000 to seven tribes this week to plant Monarch friendly plants on tribal property.

I thought casino's should have paid for that, but what do I know.

They sure messed with me while shooting skeet Saturday! Hundreds flying around. That little distraction out of the corner of your eye will do it everytime.

At least that's my excuse!
