I've got an STI Escort in .45 with a 3.25" barrel and it works great. I did have an issue early on with the slide locking back prematurely (WWB), but a little filing on the slide stop took care of that. Only 5 rounds in the factory mag, but extra mags are 10 rounders. Adjustable rear sight makes it very accurate for a short barrel. Good for summer carry, but in the winter I carry either a 9mm CZ P-01 with a 16 round mag with 18 round spare(s) or my CZ 9mm SP-01 with 18 round mags. The longer barrel pistols seem to be as concealable as shorter barrel pistols for me except for the longer grips, but the longer barrel pistols are a bit more uncomfortable when sitting at a restaurant or driving the vehicle. I carry appendix IWB.

Sorry for the short answer (I was goofing off on the work computer at the time). I had a Kimber Warrior that was a wonderful gun. Five inch barrel, steel frame, accurate, and reliable. Loved the gun, but it was a bit of a load to carry (worked quite well in the excellent Crossbreed Super Tuck holster, though). So, I bought a brand new 4 inch Kimber with the alloy frame as a potential carry gun. What a mistake!!! Called Kimber, got a new slide stop, still unreliable. Finally sold the dratted thing. After that, no more 1911's under 5 inches for me. All I've owned since then have been far more reliable than that Kimber Pro. The Crossbreed S/T is a fine holster for a 5 inch gun, as is the superb Milt Sparks Summer Special II. The key to comfortably carrying the full size 1911 is all about holster and belt selection. The butt of any gun is the hardest to conceal anyway, and an additional inch of slide/frame inside the pants makes little difference IMO. Good luck with yours!

Same thing can sometimes be said about a woman...Just sayin'... :lookaroun

I wouldn't say that to the little woman of the house. Wouldn't advise you to, either....

HELL NO! That's a quick way to wake up in the ICU. Or staring at grass roots from below the dirt on the side of a lonely back road.
