What is your woods/hunting/back-up outdoor revolver or pistol? Right now mine is a 3" S&W 66 Comp F or a 5" S&W Model 27. I have been thinking of moving up in caliber/power but really don't know if it is needed in Oklahoma. What is the chance I will run into a black bear, a mountain lion, or a big foot? I have seen and dropped some hogs, seen and dropped some dogs, and even saw a bobcat but I know the .357 mag with a nice 158 gr JSP will work on them.

What say you, what do you carry, and experiences with your revolver or pistol.

Calibers I am entertaining:
10mm
.44 Mag
.45Colt

For me, I rely on a Judge with a couple of shotshells and .45 loaded.

Ruger Security Six 4". 3 rounds of snake shot (what I'm most worried about here), followed by 2 .38 spl 158 gr SWC, then 1 .357 mag 158gr SWC.

If I were going out somewhere there might be serious wildlife, bigger than a coon or coyote, then I'd probably take one of my .45s, either the 22 4" .45 acp revolver or the Kimber 1911.
