Harder primers are better, like the Rem 7.5 and CCI 41, but most everything will work just fine. I've heard that the Rem 6.5's will pierce if your loads get much above moderate, but I don't know that for a fact. I've shot Rem 7.5s, Winchester Small Rifles, and Federal Gold Medal through ARs, and I've got a whole pile of Wolf Small Rifle Magnums that I haven't started on yet.

Federals seem to be softest. Lee, and I think some others, recommend not using their hand primer seater with these. I have never tried them. Shouldn't be too dangerous if one goes off, but I like to preserve domestic tranquility.

Most recently I have been using CCI and WIN primers because of availability. CB
