I am new to posting at Oklahoma Shooters and new to Tulsa, OK. Could anyone direct me to a great handgun shooting range "in" or "near" Tulsa? I am not into paying an arm and leg for couple of hours shoot. Thank You.

If you want an inexpensive indoor range, I suggest Medlock's Firearms in Collinsville, about 16 mins. north of Tulsa.

Outdoors you can try Happy Hollow near Sapulpa. There is also a "free" range on the public hunting area west of Okmulgee, they have both a pistol and rifle range. You have to have a valid hunting license to use them.

Tulsa Gun Club is not overly expensive, you pay an annual membership and they are mostly a skeet and trap club, however they have an outdoor pistol range and a rifle range of sorts (I think it's pretty short). There is a use fee for the pistol range, I think it's $2 per day all you want to shoot.

Sand Springs Sportman's Club has very reasonable annual dues and no use fee for the pistol or rifle range, but there is a charge for the trap and skeet fields (to be able to buy clay birds). Membership is limited and they only open for new memberships around the first of the year. They have a web site you can check out.

There's also Oil Capitol, USSA and Red Castle, all with a lot of facilities, but also a pretty hefty price. they are worth the cost, but only if you plan to shoot quite a bit.

The good options have been listed, I would just warn you to stay away from Tulsa Firearms. I won't call them names, but if they take Viagra, the only effect is they become taller, because they act like walking pen!ses....

Thanks for all the info. I made a trip to Medlock and they were closed due to them having a booth at the gun show today. I ended up at Tulsa Firearms for my shoot and I could sense a little arogance in the air. They didn't mess with me about anything except... I purchased their little 10x12 pistol targets and the gentleman behind the counter questioned if I could hit the little target at their required ten yards. I simply replied, "not a problem". I started to ask for something smaller and really freak him out, but I didn't. Overall, Tulsa Firearms was not a bad shoot experience. I little pricey. I hope to give Medlock a try soon. Thanks again for the direction in shooting ranges.

Tulsa does not have an abundance of shooting facilities. I shoot mainly at the Tulsa Gun Club. Hours of operation are limited but the cost is reasonable. I also shoot some on private property.

I shoot at Sand Springs Gun club, which has super nice facilities, dirt cheap prices, not that far to drive, etc.

in short the best combo I've found so far... one drawback or advantage is the low number of members by choice. most times I've got range to myself and/or one other party.

it's my understanding, there's a waiting list...
