Does anyone have practical experience with this? I notice you can get Russian sealed tins of 1080 rounds for about $160. Seems a lot cheaper than 223. Is this junk or a bargain. I just want to shoot 100 yards or so, I'm not going to Camp Perry.

I searched for any other threads on the site and couldn't find one....

Try searching again. I did, and came up with a few. Here's one.

But to add my two cents, I've had no issues with a S&W AR-15 chambered for 5.45x39. It's pretty accurate out to about 300 meters or so, recoil is mild, and I had relatively few problems with failures to feed (went away as the rifle was broken in). Just be sure to clean the AR thoroughly, immediately after each range session. That ammo is nastily corrosive.

The really cheap stuff is also corrosive.
