Here is a comparison I haven't seen:
I was talking with my Dad about which is better as a 'Service' weapon or SD gun. He says 1911 and I say a large frame .357 (8 shot)
1) Revolvers never have FTE issues.
2) Revolvers are easier to clean.
3) They both weigh about the same.
4) I think the .357 is a better round ballistically than .45
5) They can both hold 8 rounds and shot very accurately
6) Never a feeding issue with the revolver.
7) The 1911 is easier to reload assuming extra magazines available
8) Practicing with .38 is cheaper.
9) FTF is easier to deal with (Revolver)
10) Revolvers don't care what brand/type/bullet you shoot - 1911's don't feed everything.
11) Revolvers don't jam.
12) Revolvers are DA or SA.
13) 1911's are 'Cooler', though.
My dad was talking about his Colt Government and I have a S&W 627PC
who knows, maybe we're both right...
