If it’s pinned and welded it’s a riflepistol*
But they're also usually 14.7s, aren't they? I could see pinning and welding working for some limited applications but 10.5 is just sooo much more funIf it’s pinned and welded it’s a rifle
14.5” with a extended flash hider or break pinned and welded to over 16” is just as legal as a regular 16” ARBut they're also usually 14.7s, aren't they? I could see pinning and welding working for some limited applications but 10.5 is just sooo much more fun
Depends on the maker. WC makes 14.7"s and not 14.5". Colt, DD, and Geissele make 14.5"s. The extra .2" just makes sure your short MD will make the cut...maybe.But they're also usually 14.7s, aren't they?
You can get all the way down to a 13.7" pinned and welded depending on the MD. Ref: 13.7" COMBAT GRADE 5.56mm - Sons of Liberty Gun WorksWell I stand corrected, thanks for teaching me something tonight guys, I'll go edit lol

IMO, if I was making/buying a rifle, the shortest I would go is 14.5". No shorter, unless you absolutely have to say that you have a shorter barrel that's pinned and welded to be 16". You don't get anything out of it except reduced velocity, energy, and accuracy.SOLGW uses a lot of KeyMO ready flash hiders and can (like RJ said) work with a 13.7 barrel to achieve overall length. Surefire flash hiders can work with a 14.5 barrel.
