An Act relating to crimes and punishments; amending

21 O.S. 2011, Sections 1277 and 1280.1, as last

amended by Sections 1 and 2, Chapter 344, O.S.L. 2013

(21 O.S. Supp. 2013, Sections 1277 and 1280.1), which

relate to the carrying of firearms; deleting certain

penalties; adding exception to certain prohibited

act; and providing an effective date.

5. Any property set aside for the use or parking of any

vehicle, whether attended or unattended, by a public or private

elementary or secondary school; provided, however, said handgun

shall be stored in a locked motor vehicle when the motor vehicle is

left unattended on school property.

Would also reduce violations from a felony to a misdemeanor.

I too, several times a week, am unable to go home to retrieve my firearm.

I don't think I would go that far just yet, but it definitely needs some amending. I think it has some good things in it, but it also has some bad. I like the idea of opening up government buildings that don't have security checkpoints, but not at the cost of giving up the exemptions and areas around prohibited buildings.

I see they removed #3 of the places it specifically excludes, "property adjacent to a structure building or office space. It just says building structure or offices place that has security checkpoints...., it doesn't specifically mention property. So carrying on property before the check point would be legal?

ie. property around the capital, just not inside.
