2017 Crappie

Started this so as not to interfere with the sand bass thread but wanted to ask...

Are they here yet?

I'm finally getting around to some more fishing and wanted to know if it would be worth the price of minnows?

Went out 2 weeks ago and struck out. Might try again this weekend. I hope they start biting soon.

Crappie are always there. Its just a matter of depth you will find the fish.

I have seen a few caught. The few keepers have come off of swimming jigs off of the bottom. The most kept was 4. The minnows I bought caught several non keeper white bass. I would have been better off just fishing the jigs so far.

Haven't gotten into them in about a month and a half. They scattered and I haven't been able to find them again. Sure aren't in the shallows yet where I've fished.

I went last weekend with 4 other guys and we caught a total of 3 fish. All of which were caught on jigs. The minnows were great for largemouth though.

Went Tuesday. Caught 4 on jigs, nothing but bass on minnows.

We've caught about 50 out of my lease ponds. Kept about 20 so far.
I tried again last Sunday and caught a small male on my third cast then nothing.
Made about fifty casts at each pond.

Caught 8 today in about 18" of water. Using roadrunner. Only kept 4 worth eating.
