2017 Rut

[Bowhunter]

Was in the blind at 5 am today. Sat all day. Seen 4 deer in the morning and 4 in the afternoon. Probably same ones, lol. Was in creek county. Hopefully a new mature deer shows up. Gonna put the time in or I’ll hate myself after the season if I don’t. Downloaded and Watched Stranger Things 2 though, awesome show! Think I’ll sit all day Friday and watch The Punisher!

That's pretty impressive.
Cedars can take over a place pretty quick.

We have almost zero cedars at my places. If one is seen out in the field, we kick it over and put a 12 gauge round at the base to kill it while bird hunting.
Of course you have to catch it early while young to do this, but it's a process.
I'm constantly amazed watching fields with 2' tall cedar trees that haven't had a brush hog ran over them.
A year or so later, you can't see the grass for the cedars.
Thats irresponsible land ownership.

Hearing a lot of rifle shots. They must be feeding on wheat fields this morning. I’m in the timber with the bow and have only seen 2 does. Unfortunately I heard the other neighbor fire early. Hope it’s not my other big one.

Zero this morning until about 8am, then it was like switch flipped. Lot's of doe/fawns little bucks. Some smaller bucks dogging does, 3 pretty nice bucks chasing does hard, but not shooters. Heard 3 shots all morning.

They have been shooting all around me they must be killing them cause I ain’t seen any

Have not seen deer until 9 two days in a row. After the duck hunters stopped banging away I started hearing rifle shots after 9 also.

A lot of duck hunters near me also seen a doe this evening for a split second son in law shot a buck with half the main beam broke off that he didn’t see

Complete and total food coma from 3:15-7:30pm this evening. The house could have burned down around me. No deer seen.

Saw lots of deer Wednesday am. Slower Wed evening. 2 bucks and a doe so far this am. I' back in the thick stuff with my bow. Only heard 1 shot so far.

Can' say what the rut was like as I didn' hunt for the first part of November. It sure seems done in nw part of the state. Ready to get rifle season over and let the deer get back into routines.
