Sounds like he was channeling his inner squirrel.
Wait till you get one that close that does spot you and can't figure out what you are. They'll start this "head bobbing" motion trying to get you to move. They'll drop their head to the ground just like they are going to feed on something and then jerk it right back up real fast. I've had a spike, a young fork horn and a bunch of does do this. When their curiosity gets the best of them they'll do this several times real fast with their head just going in a circle. It's pretty comical.
had a couple of bucks chasing a doe the last few days. 1 of them had a bad afternoon and took the shaft
We need pics!
Ok, let's see ifn I can post Back Scratcher's picture. He appears to be a 3.5 year old. 40 yds ish shot. He was looking at me at approx 40 yards broadside when I shot so he may have ducked the bolt and taken it in the spine. Hit the ground like a rock, thrashed for a bit and was still. So Chili Jr and Back Scratcher are history this year. These are some of the culls. I am guessing his weight at 150-160 pounds. He was easier to load than Chili Jr on Nov 6th when we needed 3 people to get him in the truck. This one was all 2 old men could handle. My right shoulder is in rehab today, its killing me.
Way to get it done old man!!!
I am recovering today
Nice job DS. I'm still hoping to connect with something other than a skinhead this year.
