Got in the stand at 3:00. At 3:30 heard leaves crunching behind me.
One of my target bucks stepped into the clearing but was at a bad angle and had some limbs in the way. After about 5 minutes he kept staring at something to my left but I was afraid to look. He stiffened up and moved that direction getting clear of the limbs so took the shot.
He fell down, got up and ran into the milo field. Lost sight of him but had a general idea of where he might be.

Gave him 30 minutes and started looking for blood. Found one blood sign and that was it.

Then found my arrow. Good dark red blood.

Walked into the field looking for blood finding none. Walked towards the last place I’d seen him and walked up within 5’ before seeing him.

LOL, I had to come up with something. Many years ago damaged my back trying to drag a bug into the bed of the truck.
Cheating is good in this circumstance. :D

Edit: What was interesting is that he was quartered towards me when I shot. The arrow went in behind the leg, probably hit a rib and exited in front of the opposite leg. Did about a 45 degree turn from entrance to exit. Sliced the fat around the heart but never cut it. Got one lung, and that was good enough.

Actually I'm jealous I don't have a contraption like that!
