This is a copy and paste from a post I made Nov 1st...
I boil the skull in sal soda (sodium bicarbonate) for about an hour. The sal soda loosens the fat and tissue. I promptly take it out and start cleaning the tissue off. I used to let it sit and cool, but I’ve come to realize it’s really easier to get the meat off when it’s warm. It took me about 2.5 hours from heating water to totally clean skull.
I will put a little hydrogen peroxide on it today to whiten it a little more.

I get mine online from a taxidermy supply.

Baking soda is supposed to be the same or close, but I still get mine online.

Look at the hole in that left antler. He must have had a weird injury while in velvet. Pretty cool.

how much Sal soda do you use? I assume you have the skull completely covered with boiling water?, do you just rub Hydrogen Peroxide on the skull, or do you dip it in peroxide?

I use a quart cup of sal soda per gallon of water, and yes, I apply peroxide to further/finish off the whitening process.
First off, I recommend a stainless pot, and mine is a 20 or 25 quart (4 gallons of water with the skull in it leaves room so it won’t boil over). As you can see from the picture, I put a stick under the rack to keep as much of the bases out of the water.

Sat for 3 hours this morning. Was going to take the only deer I saw, a big ol' doe perfect for the freezer, with no fawns or bucks on her at all.
She came from behind and to my right. Couldn't get squared up on her, shoulda been born left handed.
    She turned and left.

Are you and the deer in cahoots?
    I wouldn't be surprised.
