I figured he got into a fight maybe the year before and cracked his skull and he lived. Not sure. i have not skinned out the skull yet to confirm. The next year 2018 i did not ever seen him in person, but had him on camera mostly at night, and his rack looked a little better and actually grew 3 points on his left, and it started to grow more upward, but was easy to identify him from his knot on his head near the base of the antler. Fast forward to this year. we have seen him consistently in velvet from august on. I knew it was the same buck, as he was lop sided and he had the knot on his head. It is also strange his left rack does not come straight out the top of his skull, but more out of the side. I had seen where he was coming out to a corn/rice bran pile several days in one week right at 7:30pm, and it was almost always the same time... 7:29-7:35pm. This spot where he was coming is in a grassy field with small trees, and would be hard to put up a stand. After pulling the camera card and seeing he was there often, i ranged where i expected to see them and it was 35 yards - 45 yards. I practiced 40 yards shot and felt good about it. Decided Friday after work i would get out and try it. Wind was calm and swirling and i thought i would get busted if they came out where i thought they would. I brought my chair and shooting sticks for the crossbow. Come 7:30 i had texted my buddy who was out there and told him we are loosing light i was going to give it a couple more minutes and sneak out. Legal shooting time ended at 7:37pm. Not 20 seconds go by i see him standing 34 yards in front of me but he was behind a small limb that had leaves on it and was hard to get a clear shot, and at this time i didn't know what deer it was or if he would be a shooter for me. i had a camera directly in front of him and he was paying all attention to it and not to me. He takes one more step, and i am searching thru the scope trying to find him, as it is pretty dang dark. He turns and looks straight at me, i see his head in my scope i knew which buck i was looking at, i quickly get on target and shoot and heard the schwack! Since i am ground level with him, i could not find the arrow. I am normally a die hard muzzy 3 blade fixed broad head shooter (never used anything else). But some friends convinced me to try out some rage mechanicals. I went with hypodermic crossbow. They made a huge entry and a small (pinky size) exit (seemed strange to me). But i waited about 25 minutes and started tracking. Was able to follow drops of blood right to him. Not the blood trail all my buddies said you would follow but a decent enough trail. He went 80-90 yards or so. I expect the deer to be a 4-1/2 year old, but will find out what his teeth look like a little later.

The end

[QUOTE="okieshooter777, post: 3278536, member: 14235"] Ok here is the story... In 2017 we saw this deer on every camera all over the lease. I saw him in person 2-3 times whie in stand. He was goofy. He had 4 point small rack on his right, and a spoon on his left. His skull on his left was humped up where the antler came out straight horizontal, almost in a downward position.
