Boys finished the season with a heckuva weekend.
Saturday 4 shot 19 ducks on the Chevy truck with a banded mallard drake.

Salt Plains hasn't published a bird count in 3 weeks now lol. Water is so low the river was frozen this afternoon as well..

If there’s no birds, there’s not much need to publish a count. It would be kind of embarrassing to publish something like 17 duck, 33 geese, 12 sandhill cranes, and 75 eagles.

They usually give a weekly report into February iirc.

Lots of people living nearby.
I must say I wasn’t in the blind. I taught my boys to love hunting, but they scout and built relationships with folks to get permission and love to duck hunt. I used to say that I’ll sleep when I’m dead, but now I like to sleep until 6:30 or so on the weekends.

Not as anxious to break ice as in my younger days. Been there done that, but never had a mallard only day like that.
