Almost every gun company has put out a .380 in the last two years. With increased concealed carry permits everyone wants a small gun. Hence the .380 shortage

Know what else? The same production lines are often used for 9mm Luger and .380.
If you were production manager, would you be shutting down 9mm to switch to .380?

i just bought the ruger lcp the other day. had to order ammo online just to shoot it. paid $50 including shipping for 50 rounds. i only shot 25 because its so hard to find. academy i-240 has some in TODAY and they will hold up to 5 boxes (50 rnd) until close if you call and ask. FMJ $15 and HP's $17

Don't forget that 380 can be reloaded very similar to 9mm ammo. Yes, you need a new 380 die set (9mm won't work), but the process is the same. If you really plan to fire a bunch of 380 rounds, it's in your financial interest to look into reloading for it. It's not any harder than 9mm (or most other pistol rounds) to reload.

i have been told by three people, two at gun show and 1 store owner, that manufactures normally make their years supply of .380 at first of year (amount based on previous years demand). then turn dies over to 9mm for rest of the year.

i have seen some new supply of .380 lately and i am wondering if this year manufactures coverted back over to .380 because of the demand.

i like shooting my .380 but i won't shoot it if it is terribly expensive.
