.45 ACP is occasionally called .45 auto, they are one and the same. You can't shoot .45 Auto Rim (unless it's a revolver), and you can't shoot .45 GAP.

Better to ask now, than damage your gun, or yourself by not asking.

Yes 45 ACP = 45 Auto

But NOT 45 Auto Rim or 45 GAP

45 auto rim will not load into the magazine if it's a single stack, or if it's a double stack mag and it does load, it will not chamber. It might damage the extractor if it tries. But it wouldn't be able to chamber enough to fire.

45 GAP is just shorter than the ACP or Auto, and will therefore fit in your mags, and will chamber, BUT DO NOT SHOOT IT!

This might help with a visual.

Might be a dumb question but i just got my first 45 its stamped 45 ACP, question I have is can this shoot 45 AUTO's as well or is it strictly 45 ACP

There are no dumb questions when it comes to firearms
. You might get a stupid comment every once in a while but just weed through those and look for the answer.
