Is anybody loading these with cast bullets? I have one that I just started playing with and am curious if anybody else is as nuts as I am.

Lyman shows a 292 gr, 385 gr, and 475 grain cast load for the .45 WM. I think I'm crazier than you though.

That may be debateable, I tried loading some 300 gr. jacketed bullets but the point of impact changed so much that they were useless with the fixed express sights. I think I will have to use 500 grainers cause of the sights and Jacketed bullets may just bankrupt me. I already cast for .45 auto, .40 auto. .38 and 9mm

Not the same I know but I load my Ruger #1 in 45/70 with the Lee 340 and a RCBS 325GC bullet up to about 1800fps. Then my shoulder says enough. Don't see why it won't work in a .458.

Closer to a .404 Jeff. The Rigby is a very modern looking cartridge, but it and the .404 J are rimless. The cartridge in the pics is .450-400 NE 3", also known as the .450-400 Jeffrey. You'll notice the .450-400 and the .404 J both have the long sloping shoulder, and very long neck. Apples don't fall far from trees I guess.

I did load the 458 Magnum with light loads of Unjque and cast lead bullets. I have switched to the 300 gr Hornady Short Jacket using either Unique or SR-4759 - nice light plinking loads.
