I did load the 458 Magnum with light loads of Unjque and cast lead bullets. I have switched to the 300 gr Hornady Short Jacket using either Unique or SR-4759 - nice light plinking loads.

Nothing like plinking with an howitzer.

I tried a light load of 19gr. or Unique behind a 500 gr. lead bullet that I found in an old Lyman manual, accuracy was absolutely terrible, at around 50 ft. they were actually hitting the target sideways. The same manual listed a few loads for 4198 so I loaded up some with 50 gr. of powder and the same bullet, accuracy was pretty good but it sure ain't no plinking load
