These are 20th century notions instilled into my brain by my parents and grandparents. Another thing that makes a man is confidence, clothing, courage and a good-as-gold word. The clean-shaven modern American man is what my baby-boomer eyes have been accustomed to beholding for all of my youth and much of my younger adult life. Human hair is also a sanitary issue when it comes to handling food. When a guy doesn't shave his mug might even be a sign of laziness.
and likewise; shaving every day is a sign of conformity; i know this man believes i should not be able to buy groceries and feed myself because i don't do what he wants me to do.

Apparently, we are supposed to dress, shave, to impress some old men….

Um, no thank you. If you aren’t my wife, I don’t care what you think about my appearance. I only care what she thinks because she has all the fun bits.

This is selling me and many others, more and more on man buns, facial hair, flip flops, and tshirts.🤣

Men's (soldiers') appearances were paid a lot of attention to by other men when I was in the army. No, I don't like the appearance of a guy's beard hair on my apple pie. Facial hair or longer head hair, male or female, that's not covered in restaurants and other food-handling jobs grosses me out.

Along with the lack of respect for anything. The last funeral I attended a young man sitting with the family kept his ballcap on during most of the service. Most people attend services in blue jeans and tee shirts anymore.
