7.62x51 brass. And a headstamp question.

Reloading for .308 and sorting headstamps. Came across quite a bit of 7.62x51 brass, wasn’t sure if I should toss it or keep it. The primer pockets look slightly smaller than my .308 brass.

as far as my .308 question I wasn’t sure what headstamps I should stay away from. I mostly have Winchester and Remington. I have a little bit of PPU and PMC. Also small amounts of Hornady and Lake City.

I keep 7.62x51 brass...it's usually a little better...anneal it so it lasts a long time. Hornady, Federal, and LC are all good brass. 7.62x51 primer pockets may look smaller because the primers are usually crimped. They are still good to go, but after you decap them, you have to swage the pocket or cut the crimp out with a chamfer cutter. Swaging is best and worth the cost if you end up getting a bunch to reload. I got the RCBS single stage swager...mainly because I'm cheap, but it works well.
If you're super extra cheap, you can get a 45deg counter bore cutter (for woodworking screws) and do that but it takes forever. Once you get a swager though, you'll be happy.

Thank you. I’ll put them to the side for now so I don’t have to buy any more tools at the moment. I have plenty of .308 brass to use in the mean time.
