When I retired I rode my Road King to CA. An illegal alien with no insurance turned left in front of me on Monterey Beach Road and totaled the bike. Fortunately, I wasn’t injured. I bought another Harley and rode it just over 20k miles in 1 year before wising up and buying a BMW R1200 RT. I rode over 110K miles in the next 3 years and saw some great parts of America on 2 wheels. You can see some of the video on my YouTube channel with this same user name if you’re bored. I can’t tell you the number of close calls I’ve had but it’s been many and I’ve been very lucky. Everyone is on their phone and even though my last bike had 6 lights on the front I still had idiots try to kill me on an almost daily basis. I once rode next to OHP097 on I44 as he steered his cruiser with his knees while he had a cell phone in both hands. OCPD, OHP, and others do nothing about distracted driving even though the current law was passed after a trooper was killed by a texting driver. I sold my bike last June and miss riding a lot. Getting killed is one thing but being seriously injured and an invalid for the rest of my life is not something I’m prepared to do. When I rode I practiced emergency stops and collision avoidance a lot and it saved me many times. If you ride I suggest you do the same. The roads are full of idiots and not much of any law enforcement agency doing anything about it. I realize they can’t be everywhere but if given the authority to do so, I could write a lot of tickets daily for distracted driving and excessive speed. Ride safe, drivers certainly aren’t looking out for you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
